Hello everyone, welcome to the web site cum (generic) blog of Gaveen Prabhasara. I wish to write quite readable content here. :)

Your first question might be, why would you need a web site? Actually I don't. This site will be used much as a blog where I write about things in general. I specifically mentioned "things in general" because this site is not the only place I have for me on the Net.

Gaveen's Blog is my blog which has been around for a few years. It's been somewhat popular :) but generally it's much of a blog which expresses the geek, the techy, the nerd that is me. It attract a tech savvy crowd and contains anything that interests me regarding technology. Although it is not limited to tech stuff, I realized that if I put my other stuff like poems and rants, musings, etc. it might not fit. That's where prabhasara.com comes. Besides I could use fancy email adresses also. :)

So here's the deal things I write about as a member of the public will most probably will end up here at Prabhasara. And things I write about as a technology professional will most probably end up at Gaveen's Blog. Since this is not a rule of any kind you'll find posts with different interests crossing over. I just wanted this site to be more friendlier for my non-geek readers. For example Megan, an artist don't have to comment on a post about Open Source mobile application platforms, just to say hi or thanks. :)

Just another clarification. Gaveen's Blog used to be at gaveen.blogspot.com and now it is automatically redirected to gaveen.owain.org which is still the same thing. Just a change in the domain name with a look towards the future. Likewise this blog used to be prabhasara.blogspot.com and will now point to www.prabhasara.com. For people who are curious a new site called www.owain.org is also there, but it might take a few hours more to point to the correct place.

As I mentioned one of the most compelling reasons why I got this blog was to have a place for non-techy people to see what I get to write. So I'll be adding things starting shortly. As you might have expected this site will be bi-lingual. I'll be writing in English and සිංහල. I'm also hoping to post some of my poetry here, especially some සිංහල කවි among other things. An informal movie review, here and there a tribute article and anything else you might expect in a blog might appear here.

Before I conclude this post I must thank the people who's been writing and collaborating with me online during all the time. Special thanks to my brother Thisara, who took on blogging lately and a few other nice people I met online, especially Bo and Su for convincing me that posting Sinhala poetry is a great idea. Actually it's their blogs that made me believe that there's space for intellectual discussion also in SL blogosphere. There's a host of other interesting and great SL blogs out there. Hopefully I'll add a few links for some blogs I read.

That's it for now. I didn't have much time to wotk on this site because my main concentration was on Gaveen's Blog and Owain site. So stay tuned, I'm around. :)
